Dr. Thomas J. Marcel, DDS received his Doctorate Degree in Dentistry and Orthodontic specialty training at the University of California, San Francisco. Shortly thereafter, in 1991, he began his practice in Livermore, California. Contributing to the field of dentistry, he lectures for dental and orthodontic organizations throughout the United States and abroad, as well as maintains teaching affiliations at the University of California San Francisco, University of Pacific, and the University of North Carolina. He has also published several articles on temporomandibular joint function and mandibular movement. His many years of experience, contribution to the field, and wide range of educational achievements have made him an authority in orthodontics.
Dr. Claire Ogata Marcel, DDS achieved her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and her Master’s Degree in Human Physiology from the California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). Her medical illustrations were featured in many research publications and she provided the art for the physiology workbook used at CSUS. During her Master’s Degree Program, Dr. Claire immersed herself in research cardiology at the University of California, Davis Medical Center (UCDMC). Dr. Claire received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1989 and her Orthodontic Certificate in 1991 from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Her research at UCSF was in three different areas; AIDS, congenital craniofacial malformations, and bone cells (specifically osteoclasts and osteoblasts). During an Assistant Professorship with the UCSF Division of Orthodontics, Dr. Claire traveled on a mission trip to Nepal to volunteer with a Cleft Lip and Palate Team to help others in need.
Stephanie Battaglia, Chairside and Laboratory Assistant, Stephanie attended Western Career College for two years before joining our team in October of 2010. One of Stephanie’s many responsibilities include taking diagnostic records on new patients. She takes great pride in taking excellent clinical photographs, x-rays and model impressions.

Her attention to detail and accuracy supports her in her role of preparing records and corresponding between patients, dental professionals and specialists.
angie@marcelorthodontics.com Angie Delgado, Registered Dental Assistant/Chairside Assistant, Angie began her career in 1989 when she became a Registered Dental Assistant and started working in general and pediatric dentistry. She joined our team in 1991, bringing with her bilingual skills that allow her to communicate with our Spanish speaking patients and translate effectively. Angie feels the best part of working in orthodontics is seeing the patient through the completion of their treatment.

She became a Registered Dental Assistant in 1991 and has assisted Dr. Marcel in treatment planning, correspondence, digital records, and chairside assisting since 2000.
chris@marcelorthodontics.com Christine Greenlaw, Registered Dental Hygienist /Laboratory Coordinator, grew up watching her father practice orthodontics and became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 1970 when she graduated from the University of California San Francisco with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. Joining the practice in 1983 makes her the longest running member of our team.
Joanne Headley, Bookkeeper, joined the team in March of 1992. With a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology from Cal State University Long Beach, Joanne has helped guide the growth of the practice and ensures adherence to our mission statement. Her attention to detail and years of administrative experience facilitates the smooth operation of the office. She has used her skills to assist staff and patients in achieving a successful orthodontic experience and has dedicated several years to community volunteerism.

She fulfilled her goal of becoming a chairside assistant in 2005. Stephanie’s greatest joy is seeing the patient’s never-ending smile after the braces have been removed.

She has experience in supervising, clinical training, financial, and treatment coordinating which supports her in guiding the smooth flow of clinic and office operations. Kim has frequently been invited to present at a national level for the American Association of Orthodontics. She has been an essential member of our team since 1994.

Using her expertise in customer service, Janet strives to meet the scheduling needs of our patients, while providing a welcoming reception. Her positive “can do” attitude is contagious among staff and patients alike.

Amy also has education in Early Childhood Development, which contributes to her excitement when working with children. As our OSHA Coordinator, she is well educated in the requirements of OSHA standards.
