Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Tom Marcel moved to the Bay Area with his family in 1975. He attended Santa Clara University, where he graduated in 1984 with a BS degree in Combined Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics). He went on to the University of California, San Francisco, where he received his dental degree and orthodontic specialty training. He has published articles relating to temporomandibular joint function and mandibular movement in professional journals and has lectured to hygiene and dental groups throughout the Bay Area. He is also co-founder and co-coordinator of the Livermore Valley Academy of Dentists.
Dr. Marcel and his wife, Claire, also an orthodontist, enjoy living in the Livermore community and have been involved in various civic programs such as coaching Little League, sponsoring youth sports teams and 4H clubs. His hobbies include reading Tom Clancy novels, movies, and cooking. As a sports nut, Dr. Marcel spends his time away from the office playing softball, running, bicycling, and playing golf. Also a hockey enthusiast, Dr. Marcel is a BIG San Jose Sharks fan.
